Unfortunately, hiding stuff and trying to get away with things is what the Philippines is notorious for. I wouldn't be surprised if this is some wise idea from some very knowledgeable IT guru inside Globe trying to spread the bandwidth around to more users.

Don't get me wrong, the idea is great. This is a symptom of either of these two things:
1. The people behind this bright "compression/proxying" idea has no balls to come clean with it.
2. Or they just don't care about the consumers that pay for their salaries and think we won't notice it.

C'mon guys! I keep calling tech support and they either don't know, or were informed not to divulge this information. It would really help to come out with even some fineprint of this somewhere. Not all your consumers are noobs you know.

Hi! I'm a Globe Tattoo subscriber and their poor image quality/image compression really annoys me. In the past, there are workarounds but it seems they've managed to update this technique and every ways to solve this in the past doesn't seem to work anymore. I have also learned that several networks abroad also use such same technique like T-mobile. But the big difference is that their subscribers are aware of it and they can even download a piece of software from T-mobile's site to disable the image compression.

So clearly, this is a hidden agenda! We are paying customers! We have our right!

Interesting analysis of the successes and failures of Sun's strategy. It does seem like OpenSolaris is starting to gain mindshare. Consider how Debian's founder is now part of the OpenSolaris team.

> It does so by adopting the most common Unix shell-isms (a sign that MS does not have the NIH syndrome, at least in this particular case).

Absolutely! We are ONLY able to do what we do with PowerShell because we stand on the shoulders of the superstar engineers that came before us.

Our Unix influences (BASH, Perl) are very obvious but we also benefitted greatly from VMS DCL, AS400 CL and TCL. Hats off the the rockstars behind each of those. Bruce Payette, the dev lead of the language was very explicit about this in his book "PowerShell in Action" where he said something to the effect of: "We tried to invent as little as possible".

I'm glad you like what you've used so far. Wait till you see what is coming in our V2! I think you'll be shocked (delighted) by what you see. There is a Community Technology Preview (CTP) available now at http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?familyid=60DEAC2B-975B-41E6-9FA0-C2FD6AA6BC89&displaylang=en

Please let us know where you think we fell short or could do better. We like positive reviews but we LOVE to see the things that identify what we need to do to make it more useful to customers. You'll see a lot of customer feedback incorporated into our V2.
